BOXSCORE | CUMULATIVE STATS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth outscored RIT 17-4 in overtime Tuesday to escape with a 95-82 victory over the Tigers in an Empire 8 Conference game for men's basketball.

The game was the E8 Conference opener for the Golden Flyers, who improved to 4-1 overall. RIT is 0-2 in conference action and 3-2 overall.

Sophomore guard Corey McAdam (Fairport, NY), who had 20 points, 13 assists and five steals, scored four of his points in the overtime period. He also made a dramatic game-tying shot with :04 left in regulation to tie the score at 78-78 to force overtime.

Nazareth took control early in the extra five-minute period in scoring the first seven points, fueled by a basket from Tyler Smith (Fairport, NY) off an assist from McAdam and a three-pointer by Joe Canori (Webster, NY), who finished with a game-high 23 points.

With the lead at seven, 87-80, following a basket by Jeff DeHimer (Scotia, NY), Nazareth scored the rest of its points at the foul line -- four each from brothers Corey and Ryan McAdam.

Ryan McAdam (Fairport, NY) finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and three steals, while DeHimer finished with 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting.

The game started out as if Nazareth would win easily as the Golden Flyers built a 19-point advantage, 37-18, in the first 14 minutes. RIT closed to within seven, 45-38, by halftime as Barrett Zeinfeld scored 10 points, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer that bounced high in the air off the rim before swishing through the net.

In the second half, RIT completed its comeback and took the lead, 55-52, on a three-pointer by Colin Roy with 15:18 left. The lead seesawed thereafter until RIT took the lead again, 78-76, when Mark Carson converted a three-point play with :29 left.

That set the stage for Corey McAdam, who drove into the paint twice in the closing seconds. He misfired on a short jumper with 10 seconds left, got his own rebound and drove in again and scored to tie the game at 78.

Nazareth's win snapped a 12-game losing streak to the Tigers since 2003. Nazareth enjoyed another hot shooting night in making 35 of 64 shots (54.7 percent) from the field and 20 of 29 free throws.

Nazareth plays again Friday at Utica in another E8 Conference game at 8 p.m.
