BOXSCORE | CUMULATIVE STATS
OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth enjoyed a hot shooting night as six players reached double figures in scoring Saturday as the Golden Flyers handed Oswego its first men's basketball defeat of the season, 83-68, in a non-conference game.

The Golden Flyers, playing for the first time since Nov. 22, improved to 3-1 overall, while Oswego fell to 4-1. The victory was Nazareth's first over Oswego since 2002 and the first at the Lakers' Max Ziel Gymnasium since 1996. Oswego had won the last five meetings with the Golden Flyers and six of the last seven.

Nazareth made 31 of 54 shots from the field (57.4 percent), including 5 of 10 from three-point range to shoot down the Lakers, who shot just 33 percent (25 for 75).

Sophomore guard Corey McAdam (Fairport) and senior Joe Canori (Webster Thomas) each finished with 15 points. McAdam also had seven assists and six rebounds. Junior Ryan McAdam (Fairport) and sophomore Rayvon Higdon (Edison Tech) each added 14 points. McAdam also hauled down a career-high 13 rebounds in a game that was more physical than the 42 total fouls called would indicate.

Junior center Jeff DeHimer (Scotia, NY) combined 12 points with nine rebounds and senior Tyler Smith had 11 points despite  playing just 19 minutes due to foul problems.

Nazareth led 38-31 at halftime, but Oswego, coached by former Nazareth standout Kevin Broderick, opened the second half with an 11-4 scoring run to tie the score at 42-42.

Nazareth regained the lead, 44-42, on a baseline jumper by Corey McAdam and extended the advantage to 47-42 on a three-pointer by Higdon. Nazareth never trailed after that and the lead eventually grew to double figures, 66-55, on consecutive jumpers by Canori.

Kyle Reuter and Nick Perioli each scored 15 points for Oswego.

Nazareth opens its Empire 8 Conference schedule Tuesday at RIT at 8 p.m. (WHTK-AM 1280 / www.whtk.com).
