Ithaca edges Nazareth on late goal, 1-0

BOXSCORE | CUMULATIVE STATS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Ithaca junior Chelsea Stouffer (Wheatland-Chili HS/Scottsville, NY) scored her first goal of the season with just over 10 minutes to play Saturday to lift the visiting Bombers to a 1-0 women's soccer victory over Nazareth at Golden Flyer Stadium.

The goal enabled the Bombers to remain unbeaten in Empire 8 Conference games at 7-0. Ithaca is 13-2 overall. The Golden Flyers fell to 4-2 in the Empire 8 and 9-5-1 overall.

Ithaca had a 17-8 advantage in shots, but the game remained scoreless until the 80th minute. After an Ithaca corner kick taken by Beth Hoover (Greece Athena HS/Rochester, NY), Nazareth's Emily Zurschmit (Camden HS/Camden, NY) tried to clear the ball away, but it wound on the foot of Stouffer. A low shot from about 17 yards away made its way through a maze of players and eluded Nazareth goalie Hillary Simon (Homer HS/Homer, NY), who finished with four saves.

Senior Aimee Meacham (Massena HS/Massena, NY) made two saves for the Bombers for her sixth shutout of the season.

Nazareth plays at home again Tuesday against RIT at 3:30 p.m. The Golden Flyers close out their regular-season schedule Saturday at Utica at 2 p.m.
