Naz, UR tie 0-0

BOXSCORE | CUMULATIVE STATS
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Goals are becoming difficult to come by for the Nazareth women's soccer team as the Golden Flyers settled for a 0-0 tie in a non-conference game at the University of Rochester Wednesday.

In an evenly played game, Nazareth was shut out for the third game in a row and now has an overall record of 9-4-1. UR is 8-3-2. The Golden Flyers lost to William Smith, 1-0, last Wednesday and to Stevens, 1-0, last Saturday. The teams also played to a scoreless tie at Nazareth in 2006.

Freshman goalie Hillary Simon (Homer HS/Homer, NY) played well for the Golden Flyers by making five saves for her third shutout of the season.

UR had a 15-9 edge in shots and had perhaps the game's best scoring chance when an arching shot by Ali Streeter went over Simon's fingertips and deflected off the crossbar.

Rachel Cushman (Irondequoit HS/Rochester, NY) had a chance for Nazareth in the first overtime, but her low shot from the left side was saved by UR's Molly Leitch. In the second overtime, Erica Conte broke free momentarily and fired a shot over the crossbar from the top of the penalty arc.

Nazareth returns to action Saturday for a key Empire Conference home game against Ithaca at 12 p.m.
