HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Stevens scored the lone goal of the game in the second minute of play and held on to defeat visiting Nazareth 1-0 in an Empire 8 Conference game. Junior Rachel Cushman recorded a game-high four shots, but the Ducks' defense held Cushman and the other Golden Flyers scoreless.
The Ducks' only goal came from Cristina Fulgencio as she put a shot into the right side of the net from about 10 yards away after receiving a pass from teammate Katria Misilo.
Stevens outshot Nazareth 11-10 including an 8-4 margin in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Hillary Simon made two saves for Nazareth while Jenn Pontier made two saves for the Ducks to record her fourth shutout of the season. Pontier has not allowed a goal in the 563 minutes she has played for Stevens.
The Golden Flyers had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks including four in the second half, but they were unable to use one to tie the score.
Nazareth plays at Rochester in a non-conference game Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Golden Flyers return home next Saturday for a key conference game against Ithaca at 12 p.m.
