Mertens helped the Golden Flyers' softball team get off to a strong start as she won all three games she started on the pitcher's mound during the team's 10-game trip to Florida. In 20 innings of work, she allowed just one earned run for a 0.34 ERA with 14 strikeouts. Overall, Mertens has four of Nazareth's seven wins and has a 0.55 ERA with 24 strikeouts.
