Rivera saved his best indoor performance for last as he became Nazareth's first national champion in track and field with a first-place finish in the 35-pound weight throw at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships last Friday at Grinnell, Iowa. Rivera surpassed all previous bests with a heave of 20.45 meters (67 feet, 1 1/4 inches) to win the event by nearly five feet.
