ITHACA, NY – The Nazareth field hockey squad suffered a 7-0 defeat Saturday at the hands of the Ithaca College Bombers. Ithaca scored five goals in the first half and added two more in the second.
Nazareth drops to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play, while the Bombers improve to 4-3 and 3-1, respectively.
Cassie Schuttrumpf and Colleen Keegan-Twombly alternated scoring the first four goals of the game. Schuttfrumpf opened the scoring at the 9:13 mark and assisted Keegan-Twombly eight minutes late for a 2-0 lead.
The duo then scored goals just over a minute apart at the 30 minute mark to push the Bombers lead to 4-0.
Lauren Delia scored one minute after Keegan-Twombly's goal for a 5-0 halftime lead.
The Bombers added two more goals in the first 10 minutes of the half.
Nazareth's best opportunity came in the 68
th minute when
Leah Good fired a shot that hit the post. Good finished with two shots to lead the way.
Kimber Nourse made 17 saves for Nazareth.
The Golden Flyers return to action on Sunday, hosting Skidmore College at 1 p.m.
