Box Score  l  Updated Stats

ROCHESTER, NY – Nazareth held sixth-ranked William Smith to just two goals in the opening half, before the visitors tacked on four more in the second to earn a 6-2 victory over the Golden Flyers.  Sophomore Emily Prescott scored her first collegiate goal in the game, while Meg Beiter tallied her first goal of the season.

Nazareth drops to 1-4 overall with the loss, while William Smith improves to 4-1.

Sophomore goaltender Kimber Nourse made 18 of her career-high 22 saves in the first half to keep the Golden Flyers close.  William Smith earned 11 penalty corners in the first half and made good on an opportunity at the 11:29 mark.

Five minutes later, the Herons made it a 2-0 lead, which they would take into the break.

Nazareth's Kelsi Barnholt had the best chance of the half, nearly converting an errant pass into a goal, however, the Herons goaltender came up with the save.

William Smith's offense found a groove to begin the second frame, scoring three goals in a six minute span to increase the lead to 5-0.  The Herons added one more goal at 47:15.

Nazareth's offense kept pushing and eventually broke through at the 5:50 mark.  Jennifer Hilts ripped a shot that was saved, only to have Prescott on the backside to put home the tally.

Beiter converted on opportunity as well four minutes later to round out the scoring.

Nazareth returns to action on Saturday, when it hosts Washington & Jefferson at 12 p.m.
