ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Nov. 9, 1985) -- The Nazareth men's soccer team finished one of their most successful seasons over the weekend.

The Golden Flyers matched their all-time most wins, 12, and closed out with an overall 12-4-1 record that included an appearance in the Eastern Conference Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate Championship. They lost to the University of Rochester, 3-1 in overtime, in the first round Saturday at Nazareth.

Hobart, which had beaten Binghamton State Saturday, won the Upstate title by defeating Rochester, 2-1, in Sunday's championshiop game.

Senior co-captain Graeme Tosh (pictured) scored the only goal of the tournament for Nazareth and thus won the team scoring championship outright with 21 points on six goals and nine assists. Tosh, the all-time leading scorer for Nazareth with 43 goals and 19 assists in 65 games, had been tied with senior co-captain Dan Brone (Greece Arcadia) going into the ECAC playoff game.

Brone finished his senior season with 19 points (8 goals, 3 assists), giving him 23 goals and 10 assists (56 points) during his four-year career at Nazareth, which ironically began when the sport was introduced in 1980. He played for the first three seasons, was not in college in 1983-84 and 1984-85, and returned for his final year of eligibility this fall.
