ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Several Golden Flyer Stadium and Nazareth school records were broken Saturday as Nazareth hosted the ROC City Invitational for men's and women's track and field with 17 teams competing.

In the women's meet, Nazareth's efforts were anchored by first-place finishes from juniors Hannah Brackley and Michaela Gildemeyer in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run respectively; from sophomores Gabrielle LeBihan and Taylor Pierson in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the long jump respectively; and from freshman Emily Thompson in the 10,000-meter run. The Golden Flyers also finished first in the 400-meter relay as the foursome of Brackley, Pierson, Amanda Entress and Sibongile Chisi set a school record with a time of :49.60.

Brackley set a stadium record in winning the 400 in :58.39, breaking her own mark set last year. LeBihan shattered the school and stadium records in the steeplechase with a first-place time of 11:20.05 and Pierson broke her own stadium record in the long jump with a leap of 5.71 meters (18 feet, 8 3/4 inches).

Gildemeyer had a personal-best time of 2:16.30 in the 800 and is slightly more than a second shy of the Nazareth school record of 2:14.99 set by Lauren Glaser in 2008. Thompson and three other Nazareth runners -- Jamie DiSalvo, Blair Meeson and Kassandra Lathrop -- were the only competitors in the 10,000. Thompson broke the school and stadium records with a time of 38:27.04.

Other top finishes included a second place for freshman Elisa Marchione in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.78); a third place in the 200-meter dash (:26.97) for Brackley, who was followed closely by Pierson, who was fourth in :27.02; fourth places for Chisi in the 100-meter dash (:13.41) and the pole vault (2.85 meters = 9 feet, 4 inches) and a seventh place for sophomore Kenzi Coon in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.49).

In the men's meet, sophomore throwers Luis Rivera and Brandon Vuolo continued their assault on the Nazareth record book as they set marks in the hammer throw, discus and shot put. Rivera finished third in the hammer throw and the discus with heave of 47.98 meters (157 feet, 5 inches) and 39.53 meters (129 feet, 8 1/4 inches) respectively. Vuolo was third in the shot put with a distance of 13.34 meters (43 feet, 9 inches). Sophomore Khiary Gayle also broke his own school record in the triple jump as he placed second with a leap of 13.57 meters (44 feet, 6 1/4 inches).

Senior Jake Lafaver won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.52. His twin brother Zack finished sixth in 2:00.05.
