ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Golden Flyers fell short against the Ithaca Bombers Saturday afternoon in an 11-9 loss in women's lacrosse.
The loss leaves Nazareth 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. The wins lifts Ithaca to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Nazareth began the first half of play with a goal from sophomore Briana Mancini. The goal came within the first three minutes of the game. Mancini's goal was followed by three unanswered goals from Ithaca's Tracy Rivas. Nazareth did not score again until the tenth minute of play when senior
Erin Wood scored off a free position shot. The Bombers improved their lead to 6-2 after scoring another three goals. Nazareth fought back by scoring two goals, one from Mancini and the other from Wood. Ithaca closed out the first half by adding three more goals to make the score 9-4.
The Golden Flyers rallied back in the second half with an unassisted goal from senior
Alyssa Johnston in the first four minutes of play. Ithaca responded within another four minutes with a goal from Ithaca's Tracy Rivas, her fifth of the game. Nazareth responded with three unanswered goals from seniors

Brooke Sullivan, making the score 10-8 Ithaca. The Bombers clenched their lead with a final goal from Allison Runyon. The Golden Flyers rallied at the end with a goal from Sullivan, making the final score 11-9 Ithaca.
The Golden Flyers play their final home game Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Utica where the seniors will be honored.
