ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Fredonia outscored Nazareth 6-3 in the second half to rally past the Golden Flyers 14-11 in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday evening. Seniors Megan Cregan, Leah Cronister, and sophomores Brooke Sullivan and Briana Mancini each scored twice for the Golden Flyers.

Following the loss, Nazareth drops to 1-4 overall. The Blue Devils improve to 3-0 overall with the victory.

Fredonia's Katie Kleine and Rachael Reinis each scored five goals while Marissa Cussins added three goals to outscore the Golden Flyers' balanced attack.

One of the pivotal stretches of the second half was Fredonia's three-goal scoring run in a span of 7:14 to convert a 10-9 deficit into a 12-9 lead with 12:15 to play in regulation. Mancini connected on a free position shot just over three minutes after the run to trim the Blue Devils' lead to one goal, however, Fredonia scored two insurance goals in the next 1:12 to secure the victory. Nazareth's defense and offense pressured the Blue Devils in the final seven minutes but were unable to find the back of the net.

Mancini opened the scoring in the first half as she scored on a free position chance to give the Golden Flyers the early advantage. Cronister and classmate Kayleigh Pearson scored two additional goals in the opening 2:20 to surge to a 3-0 lead.

Fredonia, however, scored six of the next eight goals to take its first lead of the game, 6-5, with about 15 minutes remaining in the period. Four of the Blue Devils' goals came in a span of 4:02. Cronister and freshman Carly Gates scored the Golden Flyers' goals.

The Golden Flyers reclaimed two one-goal leads following goals by Cregan, Sullivan and senior Alyssa Johnston before settling for an 8-8 tie at the break. Senior Erinn Wood was credited with the assist on Cregan's tally.

After the Blue Devils opened the the second period with a goal, Cregan and Sullivan scored their second goal of the game to reclaim Nazareth's edge 2:31 into the period. The Golden Flyers' offense was stymied until Mancini's goal with 8:47 to play in the game. Nazareth's rhythm was hurt by four second half penalties.

Senior Shelby Robinson played the first half in the Golden Flyers' goal and was credited with five saves. Junior Tara Prosak played the final 30 minutes in net and had one save. Casey Chiesa earned the victory with a game-high eight saves.

The Blue Devils finished with an advantage in shots (30-22) and draw controls (17-10). The Golden Flyers' defense forced Fredonia into a game-high 17 turnovers.

Nazareth hosts Rochester March 23rd in its next contest. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
