Diana Schmitt completed her first season as head coach of the women's lacrosse program in 2024, guiding the Golden Flyers to the semifinals of the Empire 8 Tournament.
During her first season, Schmitt helped guide seven Empire 8 all-conference players, including two First Team selections.
A graduate assistant coach at Springfield for two seasons and an assistant coach at Nazareth for two, Schmitt was named the head coach of the Golden Flyers at the end of the 2023 season.
A native Westbury, N.Y., Schmitt played collegiate lacrosse at Division II Mercyhurst, where she was named the team's Rookie of the Year for 2016 and was team captain in 2018 and 2019. Schmitt graduated from Mercyhurst with a degree in Psychology and earned a Master's degree from Springfield in Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Administration.
At Springfield, both the 2020 and 2021 seasons were cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Schmitt was able to teach classes in physical education while adhering to her coaching duties. Schmitt also has experience coaching at several camps and clinics.
