Communication and Rhetoric major. . . daughter of Donald and Susan Persico, Ravena, N.Y. . . returning for her third season, Persico started all 38 games, alternating between shortstop and centerfield, and led the Golden Flyers in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.404), runs scored (26), hits (44), RBIs (29) doubles (13), home runs (7), and on-base percentage (.455). . . went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, three RBIs, and two home runs in a win over Hilbert 4/7/08. . . hit a grand slam in the eighth inning in a 4-1 win at Oswego 4/23/08. . . honored at Empire 8 Player of the Week for 3/24/08. . . honored as a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star. . .
2007: started all 36 games at shortstop and led the Golden Flyers in several offensive categories, including batting average (.390), runs scored (30), hits (39), triples (9), home runs (8) and runs batted in (32). . . had three hits, including a home run, in Nazareth’s first win, a 12-0 shutout over Eastern Nazarene 3/13/07. . . went 3-for-3 and drove in a school-record eight runs in a win over Mt. Ida 3/16/07. . . slugged three home runs in a 9-8 loss to Elmira at home 4/27/07. . . twice honored as Empire 8 Player of the Week (for March 19 and April 30). . . also a standout for the Golden Flyers’ volleyball team for the past four seasons, Persico amassed more than 1,500 kills to rank third all-time and earned honorable mention All-American honors as an outside hitter in 2007. . .
Scholastic: a graduate of Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, Persico was a four-year standout in softball, basketball and volleyball. . . named R-C-S’s female Athlete of the year for 2004-05.
