Biography
Physical Therapy and Psychology major... born 4/14/93... son of John and Diane Lawatsch, Penfield, N.Y... returning for his fourth season, Lawatsch continued to make an impact for the Golden Flyers during the 2014 season… Lawatsch played in 24 of Nazareth’s 25 matches and appeared in 86 sets… ranked first on the team in total blocks with 97 and was tied for first on the team in service aces with 22… was third on the team in kills with 171, and he also tallied 50 digs… had 13 kills against Medaille on 2/12/14 and 12 kills against Thiel on 2/1/14… Lawatsch tallied at least five total blocks in seven matches including seven blocks against Medaille on 2/12/14 and Elmira on 2/19/14… ranked among the national leaders in hitting percentage (171-53-329, .359) and blocks per set (1.13)... earned second-team All-American honors from the American Volleyball coaches Association... received first-team all-star accolades for the second straight season in the United Volleyball Conference.
2013: Lawatsch was spectacular for the Golden Flyers as he earned first-team All-American honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association after ranking second nationally with a school-record .483 hitting percentage (226-55-354)… also finished with a team-high 87 blocks (0.98 per set)… earned first-team all-star honors in the United Volleyball Conference… posted double-digit kill totals seven times and had a career-high 19 kills in a five-set victory over MIT on 2/3/13… had a career-high eight blocks in three separate matches – vs. MIT on 2/3/13, at New Paltz on 3/9/13 and at Vassar on 3/29/13… named to all-tournament team for the Golden Flyer Invitational.

2012: emerged as a solid contributor for the Golden Flyers as he appeared in 26 matches and 68 sets... produced 123 kills and a .332 hitting percentage.. also had 35 digs and was third on the team with 65 blocks (0.96 per set)... hit .406 (17-4-32) with a season-high 17 kills in five-set loss to Carthage in NCAA Tournament match at Springfield on 4/27/12... also hit .571 (14-2-21) in a three-set loss to Carthage on 3/17/12... has 12 kills in a five-set win over Stevens in the United Volleyball Conference championship match on 4/15/12... named UVC Rookie of the Week for 3/19/12.
Scholastic: a graduate of Penfield High School, Lawatsch competed in volleyball there and helped the Patriots to two Section Five titles and a state title in 2009... earned first-team Monroe County League all-star honors in 2010... also competed in football, basketball, baseball and cross country.
