A four-year standout as a player, Frank Leahy is back at Nazareth for his second season as an assistant coach.
Still working toward his graduate degree at Nazareth in physical therapy, Leahy completed his volleyball eligibility in 2009 after twice earning AVCA All-America honors as the Golden Flyers' starting setter.
He holds nearly all of Nazareth's assist records, including most assists in a season (1,397 in 2009) and a career (4,753).
In his senior season of 2009, Leahy helped engineer one of Nazareth's best seasons as the Golden Flyers finished 28-5 overall and reached the finals of the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Tournament. He was honored as a first-team All-American as well as a first-team NECVA West all-star. In addition, he twice was honored as the American Volleyball Coaches Association's National Player of the Week.
A native of Smithtown, N.Y., Leahy was a scholastic standout at Smithtown High School. He earned Suffolk County MVP honors there and helped the team win two county titles. He also competed in the Empire State Games and was an all-tournament team selection in the Junior Olympics in 2005.
