Nazareth College Athletics

Son of Mark and Jennifer Welch, Avon. N.Y... returning for his fifth season of track and field after competing frequently for the Golden Flyers in the 2023-24 seasons... at the Empire 8 Indoor Championship meet, Welch placed 2nd in the 4x200 with a time of 3:28.67, 9th in the 200 with a time of 23.32 seconds, and 10th in the 400 with a time of 53.42 seconds... at the AARTFC Indoor Championship meet, Welch placed 21st in the 4x200 with a time of 1:33.86... at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championship meet, Welch was a part of the 1st place 4x400 team with a time of 3:22.75 as well as the 2nd place 4x100 team with a time of 43.01, also placed third in the 100 with a time of 11.24 seconds and 5th in the 200 with a time of 23.12 seconds... at the AARTFC Outdoor Championship meet, Welch placed 15th overall in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:23.99... holds Nazareth 4x100 record at 43.17 seconds... Empire 8 First-Team in the 4x400 relay... Empire 8 Second-Team in the 4x100 relay... Empire 8 Third-Team in the 100... Empire 8 Second-Team Indoor in the 4x400 relay.

2022-23: Welch continued to excel for the Golden Flyers in 2023, helping Nazareth to Empire 8 Conference titles both indoors and outdoors… outdoor season was highlighted by personal-best times of :49.98 in the 400-meter dash and :11.13 in the 100… also represented the Golden Flyers at the All-Atlantic Regional meet at Susquehanna and ran on the 4 x 400-meter relay team that placed seventh in 3:21.90… also ran the 4 x 400-meter relay at the E8 Indoor Championships and helped the team to a first-place finish with a time of 3:25.18… finished second in the 400-meter dash (:51.14) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (:23.25)… represented the Golden Flyers for the fall and spring semesters on the E8 Presidents’ List for student-athletes with GPAs of 3.75 and higher.

2021-22: Welch had strong indoor and outdoor seasons in 2021-22... helped the 4 x 400-meter relay team (3:32.7) take third place at the Empire 8 Indoor Championships to earn third-team all-conference... was sixth in the 400-meter run (52.77) and eighth in the 200-meter run (23.29)... at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships, was part of the winning 4 x 400-meter relay (3:25.59) to earn first-team all-conference and earned second-team all-conference in the 400-meter run (50.27) with a second place finish... also was fourth in the both the 200-meter run (23.22) and the 4 x 100-meter relay (44.20).
 
2020-21: Welch ran well for the Golden Flyers during the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2021... placed second in the 4 x 400-meter relay (3:36.80) at the Empire 8 indoor meet as well as third in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes in :23.69 and :51.91 respectively... the outdoor season featured second place in the 400-meter dash (:50.96) at the E8 meet and third in the 4 x 400-meter relay (3:32.93)... had personal-best time the 200 (:22.61).

2019-20: Welch ran well during the 2020 indoor season, highlighted by a first-place finish in the distance medley relay (10:58.37) at the Empire 8 Conference meet... also placed fourth in the 4 x 400-meter relay (3:30.75) and seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of :23.65... other top times included 7.68 in the 60-meter dash and :52.93 in the 400-meter dash.

Scholastic: a graduate of Avon Central, Welch competed in soccer and track and field there... competed as a sprinter in track and won 600-meter run at 2019 Livingston County Championship meet... named Offensive MVP in soccer... member of National Honor Society as well as high honor roll... graduated fifth in class of 2019.
