Mike Heymann was hired as a full-time associate head coach for the Nazareth cross country and track and field teams in June of 2018 and was promoted to Cross Country Head Coach at the end of the 2022-23 Cross Country and Track and Field seasons.

Heymann has worked diligently with the Golden Flyers' middle-distance and long-distance runners and helped guide the Nazareth men's cross country team to Empire 8 titles in 2020, 21 and a third consecutive title in 2022. The women's team earned its first-ever Empire 8 Cross Country championship in 2023.

Under Heymann's direction, Cade Eells (2023) and Nathan Bowers (2022) each garnered Empire 8 Runner of the Year honors in cross country.

The track and field teams each won both the Indoor and Outdoor team titles in 2022-23 with Heymann as a member of the Coaching Staff of the Year for Cross Country and both Track and Field seasons. The distance and middle distance runners were a major factor in both track and field titles as Nazareth finished with 14 top-three finishes including conference titles in the men’s mile, 3K and distance medley relay at the indoor championships. In the outdoor championships, Nazareth posted conference titles in the six events and had 18 top-three finishes.

As a collegiate competitor, Heymann was a standout distance runner for SUNY Plattsburgh, competing for the Cardinals' cross country and track and field teams and serving as captain for three years.

As a cross-country runner, Heymann earned All-American honors three times as well as All-Atlantic Region and All-SUNYAC four times. He posted a personal-best time of 24:12 for 8 kilometers and is a member of the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame.

As a member of the track and field teams, Heymann earned All-American honors four times, twice in the indoor 5,000-meter run and twice in the outdoor 10,000-meter run. He earned SUNYAC all-star honors 11 times and won six individual SUNYAC titles. Heymann set several school records, including indoor marks in the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs (with times of 8:17.54 and 14:13.05 respectively) and outdoor marks in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs (with times of 14:24.55 and 29:55.37 respectively). He also ran on the school's record-setting distance medley relay team. All records are still intact as of 2022-23.

Heymann graduated from Plattsburgh in 2011 with a degree in Childhood Education 1-6 and from Nazareth College in 2015 with a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL).

A native of Tully, NY and a graduate of Tully Central, Heymann was a standout in both cross country and track and field there. Received 2006 First Team All-Section III Class C, All-CNY, and Second Team All-Federation honors in cross country in 2006.
