HEAD COACH:
Devin Gotham
Office: (585) 389-2190
E-mail: dgotham6@naz.edu
Armed with boundless energy and enthusiasm, Nazareth graduate Devin Gotham is looking to build upon his first two seasons, which were marked by steady improvement that included a 13-12 overall record in 2008-09.
Nazareth's five-win improvement over Gotham's first season was a testament to the coach's team-first philosophy into the Golden Flyers' collective mindset.
"I was most proud of our all-around effort and the culture change we have started to establish," said Gotham, now in his third season.
The new outlook has been on display since Gotham took over and was underscored by the Golden Flyers' second-place finish in the annual JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Tournament in 2008 after starting out as the seventh seed. Nazareth played well in the seven again in 2009, finishing third with solid out-of-conference wins over Geneseo and Brockport.
Gotham was the men's basketball coach at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for four seasons before being named head women's basketball coach at Nazareth in May 2007.
A native of South Colton, N.Y., Gotham (pronounced GO-thum) helped to rebuild a struggling program at MCLA in North Adams, Mass. The eight victories the team amassed in 2004-05 matched the total from the three previous seasons combined. In 2006-07, the Trailblazers were recipients of the Sportsmanship Award from the Division III New England Basketball Officials Association. At MCLA, Gotham also served as assistant director of sports information and was the head men's and women's cross country coach for three seasons.
Before going to MCLA, Gotham was an assistant men's basketball coach at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., where he helped the Ephs to a three-year record of 74-14, including a 31-1 mark and the NCAA Division III championship in 2003.
Gotham's basketball coaching experience includes a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Alfred University and eight years as Director of Basketball at Camp Laurel in Readfield, Maine.
As a basketball player, Gotham was a four-year member of Nazareth's basketball team and helped the Golden Flyers win the ECAC Upstate championship in 1997 and helped them to an NCAA Tournament berth in 1998. He was a three-time recipient of the team's Hustle-Heart-and-Harmony Award that represented leadership, work ethic and character.
Gotham has a degree from Nazareth in Business Administration with a minor in Sport Management. His identical twin brother, Kerry, is Nazareth's Director of Alumni Relations as well as an assistant coach. He and his wife, Ursula, reside in Fairport.

Gotham has an extensive athletic background that includes two seasons as a member of the Nazareth men’s basketball team and three years as a representative on the NCAA’s national Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Gotham also spent one season at Rochester Institute of Technology as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team.
