Scholastic: a graduate of Fordham Prep, Whelan played football and lacrosse there... named team's defensive MVP in lacrosse in 2013 and 2014... also named Catholic High School Athletic Association's Class AAA defensive player of the year for those two seasons... helped team to CHSAA Class AAA championship in 2013.
