Nazareth College Athletics

Psychology major... born 8/27/96... son of Paul and Susanne LaBarbera, Red Hook, N.Y... returning for his fourth track and field season, LaBarbera put together a strong outing in the indoor season in 2016-17 setting a personal-best in the 200 with a 22.60 on 2/4/17 at the Ithaca Invitational ... finished fifth in the 400 at the ECAC meet in 49.74 … during the 2017 outdoor season LaBarbera had season-best times of 48.83 in the 400 and 22.64 in the 200 … also ran a personal-best 11.46 in the 100 at the Golden Eagle Invite on 1/14/17.

2015: LaBarbera helped Nazareth set several relay records during the 2015-16 season ... helped Nazareth's 4 x 400 set the school record on 3/4/16 at the SLU Fast Chance Qualifier in a time of 3:21.14 ... that same 4 x 400 squad won the NYSCTC and Empire 8 titles ... a member of the 4 x 200 squad that set a school record at Ithaca on 2/6/16 in 1:32.51 ... ran season-best times of 23.32 in the 200, 49.61 in the 400, and 1:06.35 in the 500 ... during the outdoor season helped the 4 x 100 relay set the school record (43.19) at Houghton for the Empire 8 meet ... also was on the record-setting 4 x 400 relay at the ECAC meet (3:17.64) ... finished first in the 400 at the Empire 8 Championships in a time of 49.04 on 4/23/16 ... placed second at the NYSCTC Championships on 5/6/16 in the 400 with a personal-best time of 48.38 ... ran personal-best time of 22.60 in the 200-meter dash at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships on 4/23/16 to place sixth.

2014: LaBarbera enjoyed a strong 2015 indoor season for the Golden Flyers as he broke the school record in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:04.70 in the ECAC meet at the New York City Armory on 3/7/15... named Rookie of the Meet at the NYSCTC Championships at RIT after finishing first in the 500... also part of Nazareth school records in the 4 x 200-meter relay (1:33.77) and the 4 x 400-meter relay (3:24.95)... top times also include :23.07 in the 200- and :50.43 in the 400-meter dashes... finished second in the 400 at the Empire 8 Conference meet on 2/14/15 at Houghton... also excelled during the outdoor season, highlighted by second-place finishes in the 400-meter dash at both the Empire 8 and NYSCTC meets... posted a top time of :48.72 to place second behind teammate Tom Sippie in the 400 at the NYSCTC meet... also part of record-breaking 4 x 400-meter relay that captured Empire 8 and NYSCTC titles... team ran 3:18.42 at St. Lawrence on 5/2/15.

Scholastic: a graduate of Red Hook High School, LaBarbera competed in track and field, soccer and cross country there... finished second in the 400-meter dash (:49.26) at the state outdoor meet in 2014... also finished first in the 200- and 400-meter dashes at the Section Nine meet... two-time team MVP... recipient of Wayne Rice Memorial Sportsmanship Award, Southern Catskill Track Officials Association Al Brink Memorial Sportsmanship Award and the Red Hook High Superior Athlete Award for 2014.
