Sociology major… born 5/13/91… daughter of Mike Root and Heidi Russell, Marathon, N.Y… returning for her third season, Root played in 17 games for the Golden Flyers in 2011, including nine as a starter… had 15 points on six goals, three assists… scored the game-winning goal with less than six minutes left in a 4-3 win at St. John Fisher on 10/22/11… also assisted on Tessa Knapp’s game-winning score with less than five minutes to play in a 3-2 upset win over Stevens in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament on 11/05/11… also scored goals against Houghton (09/21/11), Elmira (09/24/11), Utica (10/01/11), Stevens (10/08/11) and Stevens again in the E8 Tournament (11/05/11)…

2010: made an immediate impact in her first season for Nazareth as she played in all 17 games, including 13 as a starter… scored two goals -- both against St. Lawrence in a 3-2 defeat (10/14/10)…

Scholastic: a graduate of Marathon High School, Root competed in basketball, field hockey and golf there… played three seasons of varsity field hockey and helped team to state titles in 2007 and 2009.
