Psychology major… born 5/8/90... daughter of Joseph and Susan Gilligan, Newark, N.Y... returning for her fourth season, Gilligan swam regularly for the Golden Flyers in 2010-11... finished 13th in the 50-yard freestyle, 14th in the 100-yard breaststroke and 19th in the 100-yard freestyle at the UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Conference meet... ranks fifth all-time in the 50 freestyle (:24.85)...
2009-10: posted top times in the 50 freestyle (:25.48); 100 freestyle (:55.86) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.84)... was part of school record in the 200 free relay (1:38.53)... placed 13th in the 50 free, ninth in the 100 breast and 17th in the 100 free at the Empire 8 Conference meet...
Scholastic: a graduate of Newark High School, Gilligan was a member of the swimming team for four seasons... earned Most Improved Award and named Swimmer of the Year in 2006... was the Finger Lakes League champion in the 50-yard freestyle in 2006 and earned second-team all-star honors in the event in 2005... also was a member of the track and field team for six seasons and a basketball player for two... named the Most Valuable Field Athlete in 2007-08 and earned the Sportsmanship Award from the basketball team in 2006-07 and 2007-08... helped basketball team to the league and Section Five Class A Championship in 2006-07... Gilligan also earned three prestigious athletic awards including the Newark Coaches’ Award, Luis Garcia Memorial Award, and U.S. Army Reserves National Scholar-Athlete Award... also an honors student.
