Communication and Rhetoric major… born 4/30/91… daughter of Jim and Sue Smith, Manlius, N.Y… returning for her fourth season, Smith appeared in all 19 games in 2011, including 18 as a starter… finished third on the team in scoring with 17 points on five goals, seven assists… recognized as a second-team Empire 8 Conference all-star… named to National Academic Squad for the third year in a row by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association... had two goals in a 4-3 loss to Ithaca on 09/17/11… scored the game-winning goal seven minutes into sudden death overtime of a 2-1 win over Hartwick on 10/29/11… also had goals against Utica (10/01/11) and Morrisville (11/02/11) and had two assists in a 4-1 win over Elmira on 09/24/11… named Empire 8 Player of the Week for 10/31/11…

Scholastic: a graduate of Cazenovia High School, Smith was a three-year member of the varsity field hockey, basketball, and softball teams… during her field hockey seasons, Smith received first-team all-state, first-team all-Section Three, and team MVP honors in 2008… earned first-team Onondaga League all-star honors in 2007 and 2008… during her softball seasons, Smith was named team offensive MVP and first-team all-league (OHSL Liberty League) … named to the Section Three Class B all-star team… was captain of the field hockey and softball teams… helped field hockey team to three Onondaga League and Section Three championships and helped basketball team to two OHSL Liberty League and Section Three championships… received the Best Senior Athlete Attitude Award, competed for the Central Region field hockey team in the 2008 Empire State Games and was named the NewsChannel 9 Athlete of the Week… additionally, Smith was the Sports Editor of the Yearbook and Class Secretary… a member of National Honor Society and earned scholar-athlete honors during each of her athletic seasons.
