Environmental Science major. . . born 12/16/89. . . son of Mark and Karen Spera, Brewerton, N.Y. . . returning for his second season, Spera is looking to improve on his solid freshman year. . . finished 68th at the Buffalo State Invitational (30:45), 60th at the Colgate Invitational (24:00), 86th at the Western Ontario Invitational (40:45), 199th at Pre-Nationals (30:49), and 40th at Nazareth's Invitational (23:56). . . during the outdoor season, Spera placed 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:57) and 17th in the triple jump (37' 11 1/2") at the Muhlenberg Invitational, finished eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Conference championship meet (10:48), and 11th in the triple jump at the Geneseo Open (11.53 meters). . . Scholastic: a graduate of Paul V. Moore High School, Spera was captain of the cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field teams and competed on each team for four seasons. . . Spera earned first-team all-league honors during the cross country season and Most Valuable Runner and the Coaches' Award during his cross country and outdoor track and field career. . . recognized as a scholar-athlete.
