Box Score MORRISVILLE, NY (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth's field hockey team (0-6, 0-1) traveled to Morrisville, New York to take on the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs (4-2, 0-0) in non-conference play on Tuesday. The Golden Flyers looked to pick up their first win of the season, but ultimately fell short by a score of 6-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The two squads traded possessions early on in the opening quarter, with Morrisville managing a shot on goal that was turned away by goalkeeper Ayva Kantor. Just a few minutes later, the Mustangs capitalized on a penalty corner opportunity to go up 1-0 and followed up with another goal to double their lead. The two teams then spent over 8 minutes in a shot-less stalemate.
• Nazareth opened the second period with two penalty corner attempts, but both were unsuccessful. Morrisville came back the other way with a goal before adding another one just before halftime to go up 4-0.
• The two teams emerged from the half and began trading shot attempts, but only two (both by the Mustangs) made it to the net and were stopped by Kantor. The Golden Flyers continued to play steady defense but struggled to find success on offense.
• Nazareth, desperate for a goal to kick off a comeback attempt down 4-0, finally got one past the Mustangs keeper just a minute into the final frame. Unfortunately for them and despite their best offensive quarter, that proved to be their only strike as Morrisville tacked on two more late goals to put the game away and claim a 6-1 victory.

• Junior Hanna Barrett was the lone goal scorer for Nazareth, scoring on one of her team-leading 4 shots
• Goalkeeper Ayva Kantor made 5 saves on 11 shots faced

The Golden Flyers will regroup and begin preparing for their fourth straight road game on Saturday, September 26th when they will take on the Alfred Saxons. The in-conference match is set for a 4:40pm start.
