ONEONTA, NY (
nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Women's Soccer tied their season high with nine shots on goal Saturday afternoon at Elmore Field, but Hartwick capitalized on its best chance in the 76th minute to edge the Golden Flyers, 1-0. With the loss, Nazareth falls to 2-2-1 on the season and 0-1 in Empire 8 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Golden Flyers produced early pressure, beginning with a shot from Kiyomi Mastro in the second minute and a pair of dangerous looks from Shannon Sgombick. However, the Hartwick goalkeeper stood up to the test and kept it 0-0.
- Nazareth continued to push forward throughout the first half. Savanna Biehler struck the crossbar in the 33rd minute, and Caitlyn Smithers followed with a shot on net moments later but was unable to beat the goalkeeper once again.
- The Golden Flyers held a 6-2 shot advantage going into the break.
- In the 76th minute, Hartwick was able to break through as they finished a chance from the left side to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
- Nazareth pressed for an equalizer in the final minutes, earning multiple possessions in the attacking third, but Hartwick held on to secure the 1-0 win.
- Nazareth finished with a 15-4 advantage in shots.
