CORTLAND, NY (
nazathletics.com) – Nazareth's women's soccer team (10-3-3, 8-2-1) travelled to the campus of SUNY Cortland to take on the out-of-conference Red Dragons (11-3–3, 7-0-1) in their final regular-season match. The contest ended in a 1-1 tie.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The offenses got to work right away in this match, as Nazareth took their first shot of the game just over a minute in, followed by a Cortland shot just 2 minutes later.
- Corland broke through first, after capitalizing on the second of back-to-back corners. They took the lead at the 5-minute mark off of a header.
- The Red Dragons remained on the attack for the ensuing 10 minutes, ramping up the pressure, but the Golden Flyers managed to escape a handful of chances.
- The remainder of the opening half consisted of back-and forth play and tighter defense on both ends of the pitch. They entered half-time with a score of 1-0 for Cortland.
- The second half got started in similar fashion to the first, with quick shots on both ends in the opening minutes and a flurry of corners for Corland. However, it was Nazareth who found the back of the goal at the 60-minute mark. Giuliana Rodriguez was the goal-scorer with a shot from outside the box, and Shannon Sgombick picked up an assist.
- The shots continued throughout the last 30 minutes of the match, mostly for the Red Dragons, but neither team was able to find a 2nd goal. 1-1 was the final score, sending both squads home with a tie.

- Rodriguez scored her 7th goal of the season
