ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Amy Laskwoski netted the final two goals of the game to help #7 Nazareth take down rival Utica 3-1 on Friday at Tim Horton's Iceplex. Nazareth moves to 17-0-1 overall and 6-0-0 in UCHC play, while Utica drops to 4-13-1 and 3-4-0, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nazareth outshot the Pioneers 12-4 in the opening period and were able to get a goal with :31 seconds left. Junior Logan Marchese had a great individual effort chipping the puck past the Pioneer defender and pulling the put to the backhand to beat the goaltender.
- The Pioneers evened the score for a brief period in the second on an even strength goal.
- Less than two minutes later, at the 15:29 mark, Laskowski netted her 20th of the season to put the Flyers back up 2-1. Ella Konrad started a pass up the boards that Nikki Sharp chipped on to Laskowski for a turnaround blast.
- It was 2-1 heading into the final period.
- The lone goal of the third period came on an empty-netter for Laskowski with an assist to Sydney Gurlea.
- Mia Gonsalves stopped 17 shots in the net.
GAME NOTES
- Laskwoski has already surpassed her point total from last season of 30 (16 G, 14A). She has 21 goals and 12 assists for 33 points.
- Nazareth improves to 17-3-1 all-time against Utica
