ROCHESTER, NY - Women's hockey cruised to a 5-0 shutout over Chatham in the UCHC semifinal round.
Sami Quackenbush and
Amy Laskowski each had two points in the win.
The top-seeded Golden Flyers will host No. 2 Utica in the championship game for the third-consecutive season. Utica were winners over Manhattanville, 3-0. Nazareth is seeking its fourth-consecutive UCHC title.
The start of the first period was quiet, despite Nazareth taking a few shots early on in the game.
Brooke Judkiewicz finally found the back of the net off an assist from
Julia Holmes five minutes and 34 seconds into the game to break the silence.
Judkiewicz's goal opened the flood gates for the Golden Flyers,
Sydney Gurlea scoring Nazareth's second goal of the game less than two minutes later off assists from Laskowski and
Corsica Skibinski.
Maggie Jacoby scored Nazareth's third goal once again under two minutes after the previous goal.
Alexis Jones and Quackenbush were credited with the assists.
The Golden Flyers' scoring run forced Chatham into a timeout only eight minutes and 40 seconds into the game when Nazareth was up 3-0.
Chatham's timeout seemed to stop Nazareth's momentum as the game remained 3-0 through the end of the first.
In the second period, it was Quackenbush that would break the silence this time with a goal at the 3:48 mark from
Alexis Kindred.
Only thirty seconds later, Laskowski scored Nazareth's fifth and final goal of the day from
Kate Cascio and Sophia Pittis. The score remained 5-0 for the rest of the game.
Nazareth had a total of 63 shots on goal through the game.
McKinley Hoff had four saves in the win.
