Men’s Swimming and Diving in 5th Place After Day One

Rochester, N.Y. – The Nazareth men's swim and dive team traveled to near-by RIT to compete in the Don Richards Invitational. The Golden Flyers sit in a 5th-place tie with St-Lawrence University after day one of the two-day event, racking up a total of 64 points. RIT holds the top spot with 404 total points. 

How It Happened 

● The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Aiden Wilken (Jr), David Martin (So), Alexander Baxter (Sr), and Solomon Panayil (Jr) took 5th place out of 11 teams. They finished with a total time of 1:33.80. 

● In the 400 yard medley relay, Nazareth's team of Solomon Panayil, David Martin, William Maxfield (Fr) and Gianluca Antonini (Jr) took 4th place. They turned in a time of 3:58.97 and added 30 points to their team's day-one total. 

● Antonini also competed in the 500 yard freestyle, where he took the 13th spot out of 21 swimmers to tack on some points for his team. His time was 5:07.92. 

● Baxter, Wilken, and Panayil all took to the pool for the 50 yard freestyle, where they finished 15th, 18th and 19th respectively. They were timed, in order, at 23.34, 23.89, and 24.15. 

What's Next 

The Golden Flyers swim and dive team will return to the pool on Saturday, December 6th for day two of the RIT Don Richards Invitational, with hopes of climbing the ranks and finishing 2025 on a high note.
