Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Nazareth Women’s Soccer Loses to Unbeaten Brockport, 1-0.

BROCKPORT, NY - The Nazareth women's soccer team battled unbeaten Brockport Wednesday evening but came up short in a 1-0 loss on the road. The Golden Flyers (4-5-2 overall, 2-2-1 Empire 8) held a decisive advantage in both shots and corner kicks but were able to find the back of the net against the defensive-minded Golden Eagles (9-0-3, 6-0-0).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Brockport struck early with the eventual game-winner in the 10th minute. Jordan Chizuk finished off a cross from Caitlin Nelson to put the Golden Eagles ahead 1-0.

Nazareth responded well after the early setback, generating multiple quality scoring chances. Junior Shannon Sgombick nearly equalized midway through the first half with a shot that the Brockport goalkeeper saved. Junior Lauren Richie and senior Taylor Ashe each had close-range looks that forced stops.

The Golden Flyers continued to control possession in the second half, earning seven corner kicks after the break.

Senior goalkeeper Delaney Malone started and made one save in 48 minutes before sophomore Katriana Walls came on in relief and stopped all three shots she faced to keep the game within reach.

Despite this, the Golden Flyers were unable to break through against Brockport's unbeaten defense.

  • Nazareth out-shot Brockport 11-5 and held a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.

  • Walls made three second-half saves in relief to keep the deficit at one.
