ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Tatum Overton netted her 30^th-career goal, but it was not enough, as the Nazareth women's soccer team fell 2-1 to St. John Fisher on Wednesday afternoon in the regular season finale. Nazareth drops to 8-6-3 overall and 6-3-2 in Empire 8 play, while Fisher moves to 10-4-2 and 9-1-1, respectively.

The Golden Flyers have earned the No. 3 seed for the upcoming Empire 8 Championships and will host No. 6 Geneseo (5-5-7, 5-2-4 E8) on Saturday at 1 pm in the quarterfinals. Nazareth and Geneseo tied 0-0 on October 15 at Golden Flyer Stadium.

How it Happened:

• It was an even start to the game but it was the visitors who were able to strike first. A miscommunication in the back led to a shot that was blocked by the last defender but then Emily Woolingham put home the rebound
• Nazareth had a 10-6 edge in shots for the first half
• Delaney Malone allowed one goal in 45 minutes of action
• Katriana Walls played the final 45 minutes in goal, allowing a goal and making three saves
• The Golden Flyers had a strong buildup with 35 minutes to play as a run down the right side from Helena Reis shot was just over the bar 
• Woolingham got her second of the day off a cornerkick in the 58^th minute 
• Nazareth was able to answer in the 62^nd minute. Shannon Sgombick played a ball to the top of the 18 that eventually found the foot of Overton. The senior was able to just get enough on a shot to put it into the left corner
• Makaelynn Neivel nearly tied the game on a rocket from 30-yards out that was tipped over the crossbar.

Game Notes

• Overton's 30^th goal of her career puts her in a tie for seventh all-time at Nazareth. She had five goals in 2022, 10 in 2023, 8 in 2024, and currently has 7 in 2025
• For her career, Overton has 70 points (30 G, 10 A) which puts her in a tie for ninth all-time 
• The win for St. John Fisher was the first since a 2-1 win in 2019. Nazareth is 33-4-5 all-time vs the Cardinals
