PITTSFORD, NY –
Kayla Ringler was the individual champion with an 86 (+14) and the Nazareth team finished first overall (373 for a +85) at the Empire 8 Women's Golf Invitational hosted at Locust Hill Country Club on Friday. Nazareth was first out of five teams (373 for a +85), followed by St. John Fisher (385 for a +97), SUNY Geneseo (394 for a +106), Utica (399 for a +111), and Keuka (435 for a +147).
Ringler was one of just three players to drill a birdie on the day. The graduate student went out in a 41, finishing the par-3 9
th hole with a birdie. She closed on the back 9 with a 45 to finish with an 86 (+14), two strokes clear of second place finisher Sarah Burgess of St. John Fisher.
Junior
Ava Malvaso had a third place finish for Nazareth after carding an 88 (+17). She also had a birdie on the day on the par-3 15
th.
Freshman
Julia de Masi was the next scorer for Naz, taking 10
th place after shooting a 98 (+26).
Classmate
Bethany Wineburg was just two strokes behind with a 100 (+28) and finished in a tie for 11
th place.
Kara Kopyt shot a 106 (+34) for 18
th place and
Grace Colangelo also competed for Nazareth, finishing in 21
st with a 107 (+35).
