ROCHESTER, NY - In 1998, Pete Bothner was hired as Nazareth's third Athletic Director, replacing longtime AD Bill Carey.
Bothner came to Nazareth from the University at Buffalo after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Operations.
The growth of the athletics department under Bothner since 1998 has been impressive, with the addition of rowing, rugby, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and field, men's volleyball, women's golf, softball, equestrian and men's and women's hockey.
In addition, Bothner has served as the point person when Nazareth hosted national championship tournaments in men's volleyball in 2011, 2013 and 2016. The Golden Flyers are also set to host the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2025 at the Golisano Training Center. Under Bothner's watch, the 108,000 square foot Golisano Training Center was opened in 2019 - it doubles as a state-of-the-art venue for Nazareth athletics and the Special Olympic.
Bothner is currently set to begin his 27th year as the athletics director at Nazareth.
During his tenure, Bothner has been heavily involved in committee work, including currently serving on the NCAA Division III Advisory Council.Â
