ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women's tennis team has won five Empire championships, the first being in 2001. Nazareth also won in 2002, 2017, 2020 and 2021.

Nazareth's first two Empire 8 Championships came under the direction of longtime head coach Annette Shapiro. To claim the programs first-ever title in 2001, #1 Nazareth defeated #2 Ithaca, 5-4 in the title game. The following season, the two squads met on the same collision course, with the Golden Flyers cruising to a 7-2 victory.

After a 15-year hiatus, the women's tennis team was back on top in 2017, hosting the Championship and dramatically beating Stevens 5-4. 

Nazareth defeated St. John Fisher 6-3 in 2020-21 and then Hartwick by a score of 5-3 in 2021-22.

The Golden Flyers were the top seed in all of their Empire 8 titles.
