ROCHESTER, NY – After a scoreless draw for 110 minutes, the Nazareth women's soccer team advanced the NCAA Division III Championships after defeating Ithaca 4-3 in penalty kicks on November 8, 2014.
Nazareth gained its ninth NCAA berth and first since 2008.
Ithaca and Nazareth were declared co-champions, just as they were in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2012.
Dana Donnelly converted the deciding penalty kick, with Courtney Malia, Sarah Conroy, and Michaela Soules also making good on their attempts. Goalkeeper Brayden Dobles made two saves in the shootout.
Nazareth defeated Worcester State (1-0) and advanced past Amherst (tied 2-2) in the second round of NCAAs (4-3 on pks), before falling to Messiah in the third round.
