ROCHESTER, NY - Nazareth senior Alison Tepas won four-straight singles matches, including the finals on October 13, 2013 to earn first singles title at the New York State Division III Championships hosted at Ithaca University. She defeated Elkie Vandenbeemt of St. Lawrence in the championship match 6-2, 6-3.
Tepas won her opening match over Melissa Hirsch of Skidmore, 6-2, 6-2. In the quarterfinals she defeated Elmira's Amy Schmitdt 6-2, 6-1, before knocking off Maite Vera Antelo of RIT 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.
Tepas was the first singles champ since 1994 when Hall of Famer Kathleen Moynihan won both singles and doubles.
