ROCHESTER, NY - 1983-84 was a special season for the men's basketball program at Nazareth. The Golden Flyers defeated Staten Island 74-68 in the NCAA East Regional on March 3, 1984 to advance to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Quarterfinals.
Nazareth defeated Buffalo State 67-50 in the first round and then defeated Staten Island 74-68 in the second round. Captain Lawrence Maroney was 13-for-16 in the the second round game against Staten Island for 27 points. Fellow captain Paul Cummings added 17 points and Dino Aimino poured in 15 points and four assists.
The team eventually fell to Clark University in the quarterfinals, 90-84. Check out some of the highlights below.
