BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Nazareth defeated SUNY Brockport 4-0 on the road on Friday night.
Nate Mann scored twice for the Golden Flyers, while
Will Halecki and
Liam Quinlivan each added their own goal.
Nazareth improves its overall record to 4-3-2, and its conference record to 2-3-2. SUNY Brockport dips to an overall record of 0-7-2 and a conference record of 0-7-0.
The first period was very quiet scoring-wise despite multiple shots from both sides of the ice. It wasn't until the 18:36 minute mark that anyone was able to find the back of the net, when
Will Halecki scored off of assists from L. Quinlivan and
Harrison Dumas.
Halecki's goal opened the gates for the Golden Flyers who were able to score again just 36 seconds later, when Mann scored his first goal of the game from
Jeremy Swartz and
Anthony Quinlivan.
Nazareth's stellar defense held Brockport scoreless in the first period, with goaltender
Dylan Wiemer making 14 saves. The first period ended at a score of 2-0 in favor of the Golden Flyers.
Seven minutes and 41 seconds into the second period, Nazareth began a power play. Mann scored his second goal off of a power-play faceoff with assists from
Logan Tobias and
Lucas Stanojevic.
One minute after the end of the power play, L. Quinlivan got the puck past the goalie at full strength off of assists from
Joey Schaefer and
Josh Dressler.
Despite being up two men on a power play, Nazareth was unable to score again in the second period.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the third, and the game concluded in a Golden Flyers victory at a score of 4-0.
Wiemer had 26 saves.
The Golden Flyers will be back on the ice Saturday night at home at 3 p.m. where they will see Brockport again.
