Top 100 Moment: May 2022 - Longtime Sports Information Director Joe Seil retires after 36 years at Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY - After 36 years, Nazareth athletics historian, Joe Seil, retired from his post as Sports Information Director in May of 2022.

Seil started at Nazareth in 1986, witnessing four national championships and more than 60 Empire 8 titles along the way.

As the sports information director, Seil was the statistic keeper for all sports, in addition to writing press releases and record keeping. The beginning days he kept statistics by hand and adjusted to the digital world of websites, social media, live video and an increased use of photography to promote the successes of the Golden Flyer student-athletes.

Seil was responsible for inception of the Nazareth Sports Hall of Fame which began in 1995 where he continues to serve as the executive director.

During his tenure, Seil was "the voice of Nazareth" providing public address at all Golden Flyer home games. Currently, Seil is still heavily involved in the Nazareth athletics department, providing play-by-play commentary for many sports teams webcasts.
