Schaefer Scores Lone Goal in 4-1 Loss to Manhattanville

Purchase, NY - Nazareth men's hockey team struggled to find the net on Friday night, falling 4-1 against Manhattanville University. Senior Joey Schaefer was the lone-scorer for the Golden Flyers. 
 
Nazareth is now 2-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in UCHC play, while Manhattanville is now 3-2 overall and 3-2 in UCHC play. 
 
Mahattanville took the lead scoring two goals in the first period. Nazareth was unable to tally one against the Valiants and entered the second period down by two. 
 
After a quiet period for Nazareth, they battled in the second period with Manhattanville.   
 
With one second left of the second period, Schaefer put the Golden Flyers on the board with an assist from Josh Dressler. Schaefer got a pass from the point and had a one timer that snuck into the back of the net. 
 
The score was 2-1 going into the third period. 
 
Nazareth was able to hold the Valiants off most of the third period. But with only three minutes left in the period at 17:59 Manhhattanville scored on a power-play. 
 
Nazareth pulled goalie Dylan Wiemer at 18:08 in the third period to add an extra skater on the ice. A minute later, Manahattanville scored an empty-netter with just one minute left in the third period to end the game 4-1.  
 
Wiemer made 20 saves in the loss. 
 
Manhattanville will host Nazareth to wrap up the UCHC weekend series on Saturday, November 23 with a 3 p.m. start time.
