Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The women's volleyball team won an exciting 4-set match at home on Saturday afternoon to take home another conference win (15-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-23).
Tessa Grover had a triple-double including 11 kills, 21 assists, and 12 digs.
The Golden Flyers are now 7-8 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
In the first set, Brockport got out to an early lead, and Nazareth could not quite close the gap. Brockport held the lead for the rest of the set and the set concluded in Brockport's favor 25-15.
The second set was much more back and forth. At a score of 12-10, Nazareth expanded their lead in a three-point run with kills from
Alana Lucey, Grover, and
Zoe Tylipakis. Another three-point run, and a four-point run bumped Nazareth's lead to 22-13, and the Golden Flyers were able to close out the set with a score of 25-19.
The third set was also very back and forth to start, with no one having a lead of over three early on. At a late score of 18-16 in favor of Nazareth, the Golden Flyers did not allow Brockport any more points, and closed out the set with a seven point run to earn a final score of 25-16 for the third set.
In the fourth set, Nazareth scored six straight points to put them up 11-4 early on. Brockport was finally able to close the gap at 15-15, and even pulled ahead late at a score of 23-22 in favor of Brockport. Three consecutive errors from Brockport gave the Golden Flyers a win with the final set score being 25-23.
As mentioned, Grover had a well-rounded game with a triple double.
Ruth Jackson and
Zoe Tylipakis contributed on the offensive end with 10 kills each.
Ella Kules tacked on 19 assists to help with the scoring efforts. Defensively,
Jenna Mattison led the charge with 22 digs, along with
Leah Fusilli who tallied 13.
Nazareth will compete again at home on October 11
th for another conference match against Sage at 7 p.m.
