ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth field hockey team had the lead at three different occasions on Saturday, however, Brockport was able to come out on top 4-3 at NLPA field. The game was the "Flowers For 14 Game" where the Nazareth field hockey team honored former teammate Mya Maloof '21 UG, and '23G who passed away in August of 2023 after a battle with Melanoma. Nazareth drops to 6-7 overall with the loss and 4-3 in Empire 8 play, while Brockport moves to 12-3 and 6-0, respectively. The loss was the first at home this season for the Golden Flyers (4-1).
Michaela Cushman scored on Nazareth's first shot of the game, 2:47 in on a great individual effort.
The score remained 1-0 until Brockport evened the score with just :18 seconds remaining in the half.
The start of the third quarter was chaotic, with four goals scored in less than a five-minute span.
Audra Mieczkowski gave Nazareth back the lead at 35:59 with her team-leading 12
th goal of the year. She is third in the conference with seven goals during Empire 8 play.
Brockport tied the game at 2-2 shortly after before Cushmman netted her second of the game and 11
th of the season. Cushman has eight goals in conference play which ranks second overall.
Just over two minutes later, Brockport tied the game again, this time at 3-3.
The score remained that way until the Golden Eagles eventually scored the game-winner with just over five minutes to play.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Morgan Russo had a strong game in net, making several key stops. She totaled 12 saves in the game.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday, hosting St. John Fisher at 6 p.m.
