Record Falls as Men’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten

OSWEGO, NY – Junior Drew Decker recorded a pair of assists and became the all-time leader in career assists as he led the Nazareth University Men's Soccer team to a 2-0 win which kept the Golden Flyers undefeated at 6-0-1 on the season.

Decker set up junior Ryan Fitzgerald with a perfect crossing pass into the box in the 13th minute for the early Nazareth lead.

Just 13 minutes later, Decker threaded another crossing pass through traffic in the box that landed on the foot of junior Jake Pawlika who drilled a shot past the Oswego goalie for the 2-0 lead.

The goal for Pawlika was his seventh of the season as he scored in each of the first seven games of the season to extend his school record for consecutive games with at least one goal.

Decker now has 24 career assists and passed Ryan Foley (2010-14) who finished his career with 22 assists. Pawlika is just one goal shy of moving into fifth place on the all-time points list at Nazareth as he now has 27 goals, 13 assists and 67 points. His 27 goals are currently tied for fourth all-time at Nazareth.

The Nazareth defense was also strong with its second consecutive shutout effort. Senior Patrick Larkin earned the shutout for the Golden Flyers.

Nazareth returns to Empire 8 action Saturday at Hartwick.
