The McKercher Brothers Score Three Each in 13-8 win over Hartwick

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Braeden McKercher scored three times and his brother junior Quinn McKercher added three goals and three assists to lead the Nazareth Men's Lacrosse team to a 13-8 victory over Hartwick Friday night in an Empire 8 game on Nazareth Lacrosse Players Association (NLPA) Field.

The McKercher brothers led the Nazareth (9-7 overall, 5-1 Empire 8) offense and graduate student Eric Almquist led the defense with 18 saves.

Nazareth led a tight first quarter as junior Quinn Conroy had the lone goal in the first 15 minutes of action.

Hartwick (5-5, 3-3 Empire 8) answered early in the second period before Nazareth rattled off four straight goals and six of seven to take a 7-2 lead at the half. Five different players scored for Nazareth in the run and senior Jack McOsker had a pair of goals for the Golden Flyers.

Senior Ben Chaddock, Quinn McKercher and junior Reece Wieder each scored to start the third period and gave Nazareth a 10-2 edge.

The Hawks scored three of the next four goals to end the third period and trimmed the lead to 11-5.

Another Hartwick goal to start the fourth quarter made it 11-6 but Braeden McKercher changed the momentum with his second goal of the game on a pass from freshman Matthew Farrington to give the Golden Flyers a 12-6 lead with 12:05 left to play.

Hartwick added two more goals in less than a minute to close within four goals at 12-8 but Braeden McKercher added his third goal of the game with 4:43 remaining and Nazareth closed out the victory.

Nazareth is off until next Saturday when the Golden Flyers close out the regular season at St. John Fisher with a 1 p.m. game at Growney Stadium.
