ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth men's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Saturday, falling in a hard fought 2-1 matchup with Alfred in the Empire 8 Quarterfinals at Golden Flyer Stadium.
Spencer Neil scored the lone goal for Nazareth.
Nazareth finishes the season 10-4-2, while Alfred moves to 6-7-4. Alfred advances to play St. John Fisher in the Empire 8 Semifinals.
After a scoreless first half, the second half ramped up with quality scoring chances on both ends.

Shortly after, freshman
Tyler Warmington had a strong chance in the 52
nd minute, taking a pass from
Jake Pawlika and volleying a shot low that Alfred's goalkeeper was able to save.
The Saxons eventually found the net in the 68
th minute. A cross was stopped by a Nazareth defender just in front of the 6-yard box that allowed Alfred's Juan Jose Menendez Guttierez to bang in the goal.
Nazareth, however, responded just over two minutes later on a free kick.
Matt Bamford blasted a kick from beyond midfield that was headed down by
Noah Malta at the 18-yard box, flicked on by
Drew Decker and ripped one-time by Neil.
The score remained 1-1 until the 81
st minute when Alfred converted an opportunity stemming from a free kick. The free kick, that was 20-yards beyond midfield, was stopped 25-yards out and played off for a one-time shot that beat Larkin over his head.
Larkin finished the game with three saves.
Nazareth held a 15-10 advantage in shots and 6-3 margin in corners.
