KEUKA, NY – Freshman
Jack Lannon scored in the first half to lead the Nazareth Men's Soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Keuka in a rainy Empire 8 Conference matchup on Saturday.
Nazareth advanced to 9-2-1 overall and 4-1 in E8 conference play with the win, while Keuka fell to 1-8-3 overall and 0-4-2 in the conference.
At the 32-minute mark, Nazareth capitalized on a direct kick from 35-yards out.
Sam Romanosky sent the ball into the box, headed by
Drew Decker over to
Noah Malta. The ball was headed back out by a Keuka defender to the foot of Lannon. Lannon connected on a one-timer from 25-yards out into the lower left corner of the goal.
The score remained 1-0 at the half.
The Golden Flyers and Wolves battled in the second half, but neither team found the back of the net with opportunities on both ends. Nazareth outshot Keuka 20-7 in the conference matchup.
Patrick Larkin recorded four saves, following another Empire 8 Top Defensive Player of the Week honor, his second of the 2023 season. The shutout marks Larkin's sixth of the 2023 season.
The Golden Flyers return to Empire 8 play at Golden Flyer Stadium on October 18 versus Houghton at 3:30 p.m.
