ROCHESTER, NY – Fifth-year players Kim Davis and Jadyn Abrams combined for 44 points including a career-best 23 points for Davis as the Nazareth Women's Basketball team scored an 81-55 win over Russell Sage in a battle of two of the top teams in the Empire 8 Friday night at Kidera Gym.
Nazareth (10-4 overall, 6-1 E8) opened an early 20-8 lead in the first 10 minutes of the contest and continued to control the play for the entire game. The Golden Flyers shot a sizzling 49.2 percent (30-for-61) from the field and was nearly and accurate (6-for-13) from 3-point range to control the game. Nazareth also held a commanding 48-35 edge in rebounding and blocked seven shots.
Davis finished with 23 points on 9-for-16 shooting and added five rebounds and a pair of blocks. Abrams finished with 21 points with 8-for-15 shooting with six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Freshman Katie MacLachlin added 11 points with four assists and three blocks while fellow freshman Brielle Reidinger grabbed a team-leading 10 rebounds.
At halftime, Nazareth held a 39-24 lead but outscored Sage (9-6, 5-3 E8) 25-18 in the third quarter to open up a commanding lead.
Nazareth continues it's homestand with a 2 p.m. game against Hartwick Saturday.
